Monologues!!!

Most people would put monologues under the same category as sketches, but there is a great difference in how they are written. Some might even call them easier to write. Here are some ways to write these.

To write a monologue:

1) The whole trick to these is an opening line, perhaps, a question. This is used to get the audience's attention, or to pull them in.
Such as: "Don't you hate it when..." or " Have you ever gotten the feeling....".

Did you know....?

A number of comedy types use the monologue. Sketch comedy, sit coms, and actually the occasional commercial. That's usally when someone is talking "one on one" with the audience.

So knowing how to write a monologue is useful for more than one reason.

Hey, without a monologue, you can't do stand-up!
