We are dedicated to teaching our visitors how to go about writing this stuff for yourself. Below are the steps:
1) A premise.
For about a week, make note of everything that is even sort of funny that pops into your head. Think about really random stuff. Don't worry about it being realistic. That's not the point.
2) Once you have a list compiled, go through them again. Are the premises funny or crappy? Get rid of the dumb ones. This is the one time you can get rid of stuff.
3) Start working with them. The premises that are still funny, begin writing things to make it a sketch. A premise is first, possibly a conflict and a resolution follow. Please visit some of our links for webpages that have sketch comedy examples.
4) If you read your sketch the next day and think its terrible, don't throw it away! You had a funny premise. Think about a way to write it in order to make it funnier! The worst thing you could do would be to get rid of a good original premise.
In order to be serious about writing comedy, you must be patient. Don't worry if your sketches don't turn out funny, just keep working.
Watch some sketch comedy, such as Kids in the Hall, Saturday Night Live, Monty Python, etc. for more ideas on how they write them so that they are funny. You don't want to accidently use someone else's premise. I especially recommend Kids in the Hall.
After you've done this for a while, you can start turning them out real fast!
Have fun!
Once again, email us with every idea, concern, question... whatever, just email! We want to hear from you.

When you want to read an example of a sketch, email us also. We have many ways of getting you exactly what you are looking for. Also, not all sketch comedy is "adult themed". Many shows and companies out there are for young people or those who want
"appropriate for everyone" comedy.
If you are not entirely interested in sketch comedy, we also have information for you regarding the occasional sit-com (Will & Grace) or other comedy things. |
